PRIME-TIME PLAYERS

BRIAN ATKINSON
Last season, Atkinson took first at the Class 4A cross country championships and led Melbourne to the team title. He then captured gold in the 3,200 at state last spring.

MARK PARRISH
After posting the second-fastest time by a nonsenior at the Class 3A state cross country championships last fall, Parrish took third in the 3,200 at state this past spring.

KAYLA HALE
A three-time Class 1A champ, Hale looks to become the fourth girl in state history to take home four titles. She finished second at the Foot Locker South Regional last year to qualify for nationals.

BRITTANY KOZIARA
A strong third-place finish (17:31) at the Class 4A state meet last year and a state title in the 1,600 this past spring explain why Koziara is considered one of the Top 5 harriers in the state.

COACH'S TAKE

AAN AREA COACH ON AMANDA PERKINS:
"Amanda Perkins is one of the most amazing stories of progression in recent years. She is getting stronger with age and should continue her march as one of the Top 5 runners in the state regardless of class."
