Who's got game? Each month, ESPN RISE finds out. Here are the athletes we recognized in November:
KATY FENG
WESTFORD ACADEMY -- GIRLS' SWIMMING
She might not get the attention that some of the state's top swimmers get, but Feng's diving skills are second to none. The junior is already a two-time Division 1 state champion, and last year she accumulated an astounding 456 points to outdistance the competition. With Feng scoring big in the diving events, Westford Academy was able to sweep the Dual County League championship meet last year.
GREG CROVO
MALDEN CATHOLIC -- BOYS' ICE HOCKEY
Malden Catholic's first Super 8 finals appearance couldn't have happened without the efforts of Crovo, who led the Lancers to the championship game last year as a junior. The defenseman served as a team captain, and his bruising style of play set the tone for the rest of the team. Crovo finished the season with five goals and 13 assists, and he was chosen to the Boston Globe All- Scholastic Super Team.
DEREK GOLNER
TYNGSBORO -- WRESTLING
Saying that Golner's first two years at Tyngsboro went well would be a massive understatement. The junior comes into the 2008-09 season with a career record of 88-10, and last year he won the All- State individual title at 140 pounds. Golner has won the Division 3 state championship twice, and last year he was named a Boston Globe All-Scholastic Wrestler of the Year. Look for Golner to continue on his path of destruction and claim more championship trophies this winter.
LINDSEY ROBINSON
CASE-SEEKONK -- GIRLS' GYMNASTICS
Case-Seekonk may not be the gymnastics hotbed that some other EMass schools are, but Robinson is making a name for herself and her team. Last year, Case-Seekonk surprised by finishing eighth in the team standings at the state meet, and that was largely a result of Robinson's efforts. By finishing second on the parallel bars and ninth on the balance beam, she earned sixth place in the individual all-around competition. Now a senior, Robinson should have her team in the mix again.
