Got Game New Jersey

1/15/2009

KELSEY MITCHELL

EASTERN REGIONAL – FIELD HOCKEY

After being upset in the Tournament of Champions last year,
Eastern was determined to win it all in 2008, and Mitchell did
everything in her power to make it happen. The junior forward
was sensational, leading the team with 37
goals and also racking up 18 assists. Mitchell
helped Eastern win the T of C for the
eighth time in the last nine years, and
she was named to the All-State
team. She now has 102
career goals.

ALLY MANCINO

MONTGOMERY – GIRLS' SOCCER

Mancino was instrumental in Montgomery's run to
the Central, Group 4 title game, playing as well
as any goalie in the state down the stretch.
After leading the Cougars to an undefeated
regular season by recording 14 shutouts, Mancino
was even better in the playoffs. The senior
made four saves in a 2-0 win over W.W. Plainsboro
South in the sectional quarterfinals on Nov. 7,
helping Montgomery finish the season
ranked No. 47 in the ESPN RISE FAB 50.

AMY SIMIDIAN

BECTON – GIRLS' TENNIS

Did anyone see this coming? Simidian didn't play
high school tennis until her senior year, choosing to
run cross country in the fall instead, but the
native Floridian went undefeated this season and
rolled to the Tournament of Champions crown.
Becton went just 3-14 as a team, but Simidian
went 9-0 as an individual and qualified for the
NJSIAA tourney. The Penn State recruit dropped
just one set all season long, with the lone
blemish coming in her 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory
in the T of C finals on Oct. 19.
