Got Game Greater Houston

2/18/2009

EMILY ALBUS

BRENHAM – SOFTBALL

Albus didn't leave herself much room for improvement
after a freshman season in which she hit .449
to pick up 2007 NFCA All-American second team honors.
But improve she did. As a sophomore last spring,
Albus hit .617 with 42 steals to claim NFCA All-
American first team recognition. Albus also played in
last summer's Under Armour All-America Game in
Florida. Now a junior, the shortstop will truly have
to put together a season for the record
books if she intends to outperform her
2008 campaign.

RACHEL FOX

F.B. BAPTIST – SOFTBALL

Fox is one of the nation's premier pitchers from the Class of 2010. She
led the Eagles to the TAPPS Class 5A state championship game last
season and posted a season record of 27-3. She racked up 354 strikeouts
in just 175 innings — an average of more than two K's per inning —
while tossing 11 no-hitters and two perfect games last year to earn All-
Greater Houston honors from the Houston Chronicle. Fox had scholarship
offers from many of the nation's most prestigious colleges before her
sophomore season was complete, but she brought her recruitment to an
end by committing to Texas last spring.

MEGHAN GIBBONS

THE WOODLANDS – GIRLS' SOCCER

Gibbons, a junior forward, scored twice in The Woodlands' 4-2 victory
over McKinney Boyd to secure the North title at the I-10
Shootout on Jan. 17. The Woodlands, ranked No. 3 in the ESPN
RISE FAB 50 as of press time, won three consecutive major
tournaments in January to step forward as the
favorite in Class 5A. A Georgia commit, Gibbons
spent the 2007-08 season battling a knee
injury, but is back and better than ever
this season. She was named an ESPN
RISE National Athlete of the
Week for her heroics in the
win over Boyd.
