PRIME-TIME PLAYERS

JOHNNY JENKINS
It's cliché to say sports are a battle of inches, but in Jenkins' case, it's true he won last year's Class AAA state title in the long jump by less than two inches.

TOM MALLON
Despite being the youngest competitor in the finals of last year's PIAA Class AAA state 800 race, Mallon outdistanced the second-place competitor by more than a second to claim the state crown.

SHANAE BAILEY
Bailey won her second consecutive 100 and 200 Class AA state titles last year, narrowly missing the state record in the 100. Her titles helped Swenson capture the state crown.

TORY WORTHEN
Worthen only lost the Class AAA pole vault state crown when Easton's Abby Schaffer broke the state record. With Schaffer graduated, Worthen is on pace to claim the title.

COACH'S TAKE

AN AREA COACH ON EVAN EMERY:
"He's been great in the 200. His coaches have been trying to get him into the 400 this winter, but his specialty events are the shorter distances. He's going to be a very special athlete."
