SAMANTHA ZOPFI

PROVIDENCE ACADEMY – GIRLS' TRACK

From 1,000-point scorer on the girls' basketball team to a member
of two state title-winning relay teams, Zopfi, a senior, has had a
very successful high school sports career. After recovering from an
ACL injury as a sophomore, Zopfi recovered in time to return to basketball
just one season later. She also helped the girls' track team
win its first-ever Class A state title by finishing second in the 100
and leading the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams to wins as well.

TORY AHMANN

EDEN PRAIRIE – GIRLS' SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING

It's not a sport that is well known, but Ahmann is an athlete who
has given synchronized swimming some serious recognition in
Minnesota. The senior and three-time state champion teamed up
with Wayzata sophomore Sarah Urke at the 2009 Speedo Junior
Synchronized Swimming Championships to finish 11th in the duet
draw, competing for the Minnesota Synchronettes. Ahmann and
Urke were the only two competitors from the state at the event.

HUDSON CARPENTER

STILLWATER – BOYS' GOLF

At the prestigious Tri-State Invitational golf tournament
on April 18, Carpenter trailed leader Max Tylke
of Eastview by two strokes with three holes remaining,
even though the two had been tied after the
first round with matching rounds of 70 on the par 71
course. But the junior put together a remarkable
run to make up the late deficit. Carpenter
birdied his final three holes to finish at even
par, beating Tylke by one stroke.
