This year's ESPN RISE Winter Girls' Soccer All-America team was a true "Payne" for opponents.
Led by a pair of unrelated Paynes, the first-team features high scorers, record-setters and plenty of national recruits.
Most interesting, though, is the fact that both first-team forwards are named Payne Carlee and Maddie and both were local players of the year in California.
Five of the first-team players led their squads to section or state titles while four others were on runner-up programs.
Given the talent depth of the winter girls soccer scene, ESPN RISE offers a list of honorable mentions in addition to its first, second and third teams.
Note: Players are listed with position, name, school (city, state), year in school, college signing/commitment, if applicable.

First Team Notes:
Carlee Payne, Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.): One loaded with stars, Carlee Payne stood above the rest. She was named the Contra Costa Times Player of the Year following a 25-goal, 13-assist season in one of the nation's most demanding conferences the East Bay Athletic League. Nine of her teammates signed for college scholarships, eight of them to NCAA Division I programs. Payne has signed with Brigham Young University.
Maddie Payne, St. Francis (Mountain View, Calif.): Maddie Payne, no relation to Carlee Payne, was the San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year. The Boston College signee had six multi-goal matches and finished with 20 goals and six assists. During her three-year high school career, St. Francis won 51 matches.
Chioma Ubogagu, Coppell (Texas): Ubogagu is making a strong case for being the nation's No. 1 Class of 2011 prospect. This U.S. under-17 national team member scored 21 goals and had 11 assists while helping Coppell win the Texas 5A state title. Ubogagu is the only ESPN RISE first-team All-America pick who is a member of the U.S. under-18 national pool.
Kayla Bala, George Jenkins (Lakeland, Fla.): Bala has been among the national scoring leaders the past two seasons while leading George Jenkins to a pair of state final appearances (winning one), a pair of FAB 50 Top 20 finishes and a 58-match undefeated streak. The Florida signee had 33 goals and 35 assists as a senior, adding to her 32-goal, 16-assist junior season. She was the Lakeland Ledger Player of the Year.
Alina Garciamendez, Ursuline Academy (Dallas, Texas): Garciamendez was the Dallas Morning News Player of the year after guiding Ursuline to its 19th straight Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Division I state title. Her numbers were modest, eight goals and 12 assists, but her impact was immeasurable. She was the three-time district player of the year. The Stanford signee played for Mexico in the under-20 World Cup last fall.
Olivia Klei, Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.): Klei played the true set-up role for national power Foothill this season. The Santa Clara signee played for the U.S. under-17 national team during last fall's World Championships. She rejoined her high school team and helped the squad to a 21-1 record and a national Top 10 finish.
Mariah Nogueira, Marina (Huntington Beach, Calif.): Nogueira was a three-time Orange County Register first-team selection. She ahd 12 goals this past season, but she's more known for her defense in the midfield. Noqueira signed with Stanford.
Kelsey Wilson, San Clemente (Calif.): Wilson, a Loyola Marymount signee, was named the Orange County Register Player of the Year and CIF Southern Section Division I Offensive Player of the Year after helping San Clemente to titles at the Excalibur Tournament, the CIF-Southern Section Division I and CIF Southern Regional Division I tournaments. Wilson had 12 goals and a team-best 11 assists.
Amanda Glass, San Ramon Valley (Danville, Calif.): Glass was a Contra Costa Times first-team all-East Bay selection after guiding San Ramon Valley to a fourth straight section title and a national Top 10 finish. She verbally committed to California early in her high school carer and signed with the Golden Bears in February.
Jazmin Hall, Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas): Defender, midfielder, attack it didn't matter, Hall did them all. The Notre Dame signed played what coach Kevin Albury said was a "utility" position. She had 15 goals and 13 assists.
Jessica Petznick, Xavier College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.): Petznick was a first-team all-state selection after anchoring a Xavier College Prep defense that allowed only six goals against Arizona teams this past season. Petznick signed with Boston College. Xavier's lone out-of-state loss was to nationally ranked San Clemente (Calif.).
Kelsey Wys, Douglas (Parkland, Fla.): The Florida State signee tied a state record with 22 shutouts this season, which is the most in the country so far this year. Wys helped Douglas to the 6A state final where it lost to FAB 50 No. 1 Melbourne (Fla.). Wys was the South Florida Sun Sentinel 6A-5A Player of the Year.
Coach: Rosanna Lord, Melbourne (Fla.): Lord guided Melbourne to a 23-0-1 record, a the Florida 6A state title and the FAB 50 No. 1 ranking for winter teams. Melbourne was the only undefeated team in Florida, and did so in the most challenging of playoff brackets. The Bulldogs outscored their opponents 143-8. With three players who combined for 82 goals and 40 assists retuning in the attack, count on Melbourne making another run at state glory in 2010.
