A recruiting-setting senior and a promising sophomore are this week's ESPN RISE national soccer players of the week.

The following are this week's ESPN RISE National Soccer Players of the Week. Players are recognized for their performances from the previous week (Monday through Sunday).

ESPN RISE Boys' Soccer Player of the Week

Max Washko, Livonia Churchill (Livonia, Mich.), Senior, Forward

Washko had two matches with two goals and one assist last week as Churchill ran its record to 15-0-1 and clinched a second straight division title. His two-goal outing in the team's 4-0 victory over John Glenn made him the school's all-time leading goal scorer. Later in the match, his assist made him the school's all-time leader in points. Washko has 19 goals this season.

Finalists

Ethan Ashong, Arlington (N.Y.): Scored four goals and had one assist in Arlington's 5-1 win over rival John Jay.

Luke Blades, St. Ignatius (Ohio): Blades served up an assist and then scored a goal, both in the first eight minutes of play, as FAB 50 No. 1 St. Ignatius rolled to a 3-0 victory over FAB 50-ranked Strongsville.

ESPN RISE Girls Soccer Player of the Week

Sam McGuire, John Jay (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), Sophomore, Forward

McGuire scored three goals as John Jay remained perfect against New York schools with a 5-1 victory over Our Lady of Lourdes. McGuire played a key roll as John Jay went undefeated and won a state title last fall. This season, John Jay is 11-1 with it's only loss to Ohio state power Strongsville.

Finalists

Megan Waskowski, Strongsville (Ohio): Waskowski, a former ESPN RISE girls' soccer national player of the week, scored five goals last week as the team rolled off three victories. She scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over North Royalton, one goal in a 2-1 win over Padua and three goals in a 4-1 win over Brecksville.
