ANAHEIM -- In need of a little extra pitching, the Angels recalled reliever Bobby Cassevah from Triple-A Salt Lake Friday afternoon and sent down utility infielder Robb Quinlan.

Cassevah was plucked from the Angels' roster Dec. 10 in the Rule 5 draft, but returned when the A's decided he wouldn't make their 25-man roster. Cassevah pitched one scoreless inning for Salt Lake Thursday night in their season opener.

He went 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA in spring training. Quinlan was on a minor league contract, so he had no choice other than to accept the demotion. He hasn't played in a minor league game -- other than on an injury rehab assignment --since 2004.
