LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Angels placed reliever Jason Bulger on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with soreness in his right shoulder and recalled right-hander Rafael Rodriguez from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Bulger had been one of the Angels' more effective relievers, particularly lately. Of his last 18 outings, 16 had been scoreless. He is 0-0 with a 3.74 ERA. Opponents are hitting .238 against him.

Bulger began feeling soreness in the back of his shoulder about a week ago. He last pitched Thursday in Oakland, a scoreless inning.

"That's the frustrating thing. I was just starting to get back to the form I want," Bulger said.

Bulger is the third Angels reliever to go on the DL this season, following Brian Stokes and Matt Palmer. The Angels' 4.88 bullpen ERA ranks next-to-last in the American League.
