LOS ANGELES -- Dodger Stadium will be converted from baseball to supercross for an event in January.
Organizers plan to dump 550 tons of dirt onto the Los Angeles Dodgers' field for the inaugural Monster Energy AMA Supercross on Jan. 22. It's the first time the 48-year-old stadium has hosted such an event.
Eric Hansen, who helps oversee the turf and grounds at Dodger Stadium, says he's not worried about replacing the grass once the dirt is removed.
Dodgers chief revenue officer Michael Young, who is a supercross fan, says the growth of the sport is staggering at a time when many sports are shrinking.
