The initial diagnosis is a second-degree sprain which will sideline Kaman for 2-3 weeks, according to the Clippers. He will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.
Kaman apparently was injured when Hornets point guard Chris Paul stole the ball from him on the Clippers' offensive end. The injury adds to a growing list for the struggling Clippers.
Leading scorer Eric Gordon missed his first game since injuring his left shoulder at Utah on Saturday. Gordon is averaging 21.1 points and 4.7 assists.
Also out for Los Angeles was reserve guard Randy Foye, who is missing his sixth straight game with a sore left hamstring.
However, point guard Baron Davis played for the first time in five games. He scored four points in 10 minutes as the Clippers lost to the Hornets 101-82.
