Fisher NBA's consecutive games leader
LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher might want to consider changing his uniform from No. 2 to No. 1 after he passed Portland's Andre Miller on Tuesday to become the NBA's active leader for the longest regular-season consecutive games streak.

Fisher now stands alone with 434 consecutive games played.
"It's just symbolic of the decision I think a lot of people are faced with on a daily basis," Fisher said. "There are good days and bad days, but the most important thing is when you wake up the next morning, you're blessed to see the next day. You strap on the shoes and you go to work.
"There's a lot of people in this country and around the world that make that decision every day. I take a lot of pride in it from that perspective. Not really about me personally or athletically what it means but, I watched my parents and my dad and my mom wake up every morning and go to work when they had to."
Fisher has not missed a game since the 2004-05 season, when he was with the Golden State Warriors. The 15-year veteran, who turned 36 in August, is the ninth-oldest active player in the league.
"It's more so that to me than about playing 400-plus basketball games," Fisher said. "It just represents more than that. There are a lot of days as an athlete where you physically shouldn't even be out there. But, when you remember those days when your uncle or grandmother or somebody had to catch the bus to get a ride to get to work, you can't use a sore back or a sore neck or a sore ankle as an excuse to not go out and lace them up."
Fisher still has a long way to go to reach the all-time mark of 1,192 set by former Laker A.C. Green, however.
"I got to keep it that way," Fisher said about his streak dwarfing Bryant's current total of 21 straight games played. "That will be the one thing that I might be able to be one-up on him."
