Andrew Bynum (knee) misses practice

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum missed the first 24 games of the season while recovering from offseason surgery on his right knee. But it was Bynum's sore left knee that kept him out of practice Monday, spending the time having his knee attended to by Lakers trainer Gary Vitti.

The sixth-year center played 28 minutes in Sunday's 109-96 loss to the Boston Celtics and put up 11 points, six rebounds and a block while collecting five fouls.

"We're hopeful," Lakers head coach Phil Jackson said when asked whether Bynum will play Tuesday against the Houston Rockets. "He says he'll play."

Bynum is averaging 11.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game on the season. The Lakers are 12-5 since he returned to the starting lineup Dec. 29 in New Orleans.
