Clips trade with Cavs complete
The Clippers received word at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday that Davis had passed his physical and the trade has been completed.
The trade had to have been completed by 5 p.m. ET on Sunday. Williams and Moon passed their physicals on Friday, but were held out of both Friday and Saturday night's games because Davis still hasn't passed his physical.
Davis didn't arrive in Cleveland until Saturday afternoon. He immediately took his physical and had an MRI on his troublesome knee.
Clippers general manager Neil Olshey said Saturday that the team wasn't yet concerned about the delay.
"They're doing their due diligence on him from a physical standpoint, and we'll hear something [Sunday]," Olshey said during the Clippers 99-92 loss to the Celtics on Saturday night.
"I'm not concerned because we had a goal and we met it, they had a goal and they met it, and they were well aware of the variables on Thursday when they made a decision to move Mo for Baron. None of that has changed."
The Clippers, unfortunately, have previous experience with a player they've traded not passing a physical. In November 2008, the Clippers' trade for Zach Randolph was briefly held up when the Knicks team doctors concluded Cuttino Mobley's heart conditioned had worsened and it was not safe for him to continue playing in the NBA. Mobley eventually retired and the deal went through.
