LOS ANGELES -- Point guard Jio Fontan has enrolled at Southern California after transferring from Fordham, where he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team last season.

Fontan will be eligible to play for the Trojans after the first semester of next season, the school said Monday.

He played in five games at Fordham this season before leaving school last month around the same time coach Dereck Whittenburg was fired.

Fontan averaged a team-best 15.3 points and 4.7 assists last season, starting all but one game as a freshman. He graduated from St. Anthony H.S. in Jersey City, N.J., where he played under coach Bob Hurley.
