USC coach Lane Kiffin appears to be casting a wide net in his search for an offensive coordinator.
In the last few days, Kiffin has talked with New Orleans Saints wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson and Texas Christian co-offensive coordinator Justin Fuente, according to sources. Four of the coaches Kiffin previously hired since taking over for Pete Carroll were with him at Tennessee last season.
Johnson has coached previously in the Pac-10 Conference at California in 1995. He spent the past four seasons with the Super Bowl champion Saints and has been credited with advancing the careers of overlooked receivers such as Lance Moore, who came from the Saints practice squad, and Marques Colston, the next-to-last player picked in the 2006 NFL draft.
Fuente, who has been at TCU since 2007, helped lead a record-setting offense for the Horned Frogs last season.
