For the next two seasons, NCAA sanctions make the USC Trojans ineligible to play in a bowl game or to compete in a 13th game at all, presuming that game isn't played in Hawaii.
But what about a conference championship game? What if USC were to limit its schedule to 11 games next season in the hope that it could make it to the Pac-12 title game? Such a game presumably will be played now that Utah and Colorado will join the conference next season.
According to Pac-10 spokesman Dave Hirsch, the Trojans still couldn't participate.
"Due to USC's ban from bowl competition, it would be ineligible for a Pac-12 title game in 2011, should the Conference conduct such a championship," Hirsch said in an e-mail response.
