San Francisco 49ers assistant Mike Johnson is set to become UCLA's offensive coordinator, according to a Los Angeles Times report Wednesday.

Johnson's move would leave current UCLA offensive coordinator Norm Chow's future in doubt.

It's been three weeks since Bruins head coach Rick Neuheisel said he wanted to move "as quickly as possible" in sorting through the pros and cons of retaining or reassigning Chow.

As of late Wednesday afternoon, Chow's agent, Don Yee, said he was still awaiting word.

"As of this moment, I have not been advised of anything relating to Norm Chow from Rick Neuheisel or Dan Guerrero," Yee told ESPNLosAngeles.com via e-mail.

A UCLA spokesman said Wednesday afternoon that "Norm is on the UCLA football staff and UCLA has not hired any new coaches."

Chow is under contract for $500,000 in each of the next two seasons. However, Neuheisel publicly acknowledged that he was considering changing Chow's role.

"The offense is still a place I'm evaluating and Norm as the coordinator is certainly in that category," Neuheisel said on Dec. 18. "But I'm just trying to figure out what is the best way to go, whether it's a reshuffling or if it's new personnel. I'm still sorting that out in my own mind."

ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne contributed to this report.
