UCLA will interview former Miami head coach Randy Shannon for its vacant defensive coordinator position on Sunday, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Shannon was fired as Miami's head coach after going 28-22 in four seasons as the Hurricanes head coach. He is known as an accomplished recruiter and defensive coach.

In his six seasons as Miami's defensive coordinator, from 2001-2006, his defenses ranked in the top 10 nationally five times.

He was fired at Miami with four years remaining on his contract.

UCLA fired Chuck Bullough as its defensive coordinator on Dec. 18.
