UCLA women start fast to rout USC
Four UCLA players scored in double figures, including three with 13 points, as the Bruins' women's basketball team defeated crosstown rival USC 74-56 on Saturday at Pauley Pavilion.
Erica Tukiainen, Jasmine Dixon and Markel Walker all scored 13 points for the Bruins (16-7, 9-3), who started the game on a 14-4 run and led by as many as 27 points. UCLA's Darxia Morris (10 points) was the other Bruin in double figures.
The game was played in front of 8,006 fans, the fifth-largest home crowd in UCLA women's basketball history.
Ashley Corral and Kari LaPlante led USC (13-10, 7-5) with 11 points apiece.
UCLA now has a two-game lead over USC for second place in the Pac-10.
