Getzlaf day to day after good MRI
Getzlaf says an MRI exam Tuesday showed no significant damage to his ankle. The Ducks said he is day to day.
"My goal is to return to the ice this week for the Ducks, and I look forward to joining Team Canada for the Olympics on Monday," Getzlaf said in a statement released by the team.
Getzlaf sprained his ankle during the second period of Anaheim's 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. X-rays during the game revealed no broken bones, but Getzlaf left the rink on crutches with his foot in a protective boot.
A significant injury to the playmaking center could damage Canada's hopes of contending for a gold medal. After scoring 57 points in 55 games for the Ducks, Getzlaf is expected to be a key Canadian contributor in his first Olympics.
