Brown likely to become free agent

Los Angeles Lakers guard Shannon Brown will likely opt out of the final year of his contract on Wednesday and become a free agent, his agent Mark Bartelstein said Monday.

"We haven't made a decision yet. We're going to wait until the 30th, but we're probably going to opt out," Bartelstein said.

Brown has one year and $2.15 million remaining on his contract with the Lakers. He has said that he prefers to remain with the Lakers, but that long-term security is important to him. ...
