Willie Mitchell, Alexei Ponikarovsky out

Willie Mitchell and Alexei Ponikarovsky, both key offseason acquisitions by the Los Angeles Kings, will each miss significant playing time after suffering injuries Saturday night against Nashville, the team confirmed Monday.

Mitchell, a defenseman who signed a two-year, $7-million deal in July after spending the past three seasons with Vancouver, suffered a broken wrist in the second period against the Predators. He will be out approximately 4-6 weeks.
