Colon pleads no contest to assault charge stemming from locker room fight
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Minor league pitcher Roman Colon pleaded no contest to an assault charge that stemmed from a locker room scuffle during which he punched a teammate, breaking several bones in his face in June 2007.
Lucas County Judge Gene Zmuda found Colon guilty Monday and sentenced him to 200 hours of community service. Zmuda told Colon that he would be teaching disabled and disadvantaged children how to play baseball.
