BURNETT SHUTS DOWN FORMER TEAM

A.J. Burnett allowed two runs and struck out seven in seven innings in the Yankees' 4-2 victory over the Blue Jays Friday afternoon, the fourth straight start he has allowed two-or-fewer runs and recorded seven-or-more strikeouts. Since divisional play began in 1969, only three other Yankees' pitchers have allowed two-or-fewer runs and recorded seven-or-more strikeouts in four consecutive starts in a single season: Ron Guidry (twice: five straight in 1978 and five straight in 1981), David Cone (four straight in 1997) and Mike Mussina (six straight in 2003).
