Davis, Indians agree to 1-year deal

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians and reliever Jason Davis avoided salary arbitration Thursday, agreeing to a $670,000, one-year contract.

Davis was 3-2 with a 3.74 ERA and one save in 39 games last season, when he earned $341,700. He asked for $760,000 in arbitration this week and was offered $600,000 by the Indians.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander can earn an additional $20,000 this year in performance bonuses based on appearances. He gets $5,000 each for pitching in 50 and 55 games, ...
