Dye signs two-year, $22 million extension with White Sox

The Chicago White Sox made another step toward retaining veteran pieces to their team, signing right fielder Jermaine Dye to a two-year, $22 million contract extension. The deal includes a mutual option for 2010.

Dye, who was in the final year of a three-year contract, is batting .245 with 24 home runs and 62 RBIs this season. His name drew interest from the Boston Red Sox before the July 31 non-waiver deadline, but in a fashion similar to how the White Sox re-signed starter Mark Buehrle, ...
