OF Endy Chavez and Mets agree to $3.85 million, 2-year deal
NEW YORK -- Outfielder Endy Chavez and the New York Mets agreed Tuesday to a $3.85 million, two-year contract.
Chavez, who made $1,725,000 last year, gets $1.8 million this season and $2.05 million in 2009. He can make an additional $250,000 in performance bonuses this year and $375,000 in 2009.
Chavez was limited to 71 games last season because of a strained left hamstring. He was injured June 6 and didn't return until Aug. 28. He batted .287 with one homer and 27 RBIs in 150 at-bats.
