Red Sox go to Japan, send Colon to minor league camp

The Boston Red Sox signed former Cy Young award winner Bartolo Colon to bolster a beat-up rotation. It looks like he's not ready to step in just yet.

The team announced on Wednesday that they had sent the non-roster invitee to their minor league camp. He was sent out along with Keith Ginter and Joe Thurston.

The two-time All-Star went 7-13 with a 5.72 ERA while slowed by shoulder and elbow injuries the past two seasons. He went 6-8 with a 6.34 ERA in the final year of a four-year, ...
