Umpire Crawford released after spending night in hospital
CHICAGO -- Umpire Jerry Crawford was released after spending a night in a hospital because of a bad reaction to medicine.
Crawford, the plate umpire and crew chief, left Tuesday's game against Milwaukee before the top of the third inning and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
He was seen talking with Cubs trainer Mark O'Neal and another umpire near the dugout. They then headed down the steps, and the teams were called off the field.
