Soriano could miss six weeks after pitch breaks left hand

CHICAGO -- Alfonso Soriano could miss up to six weeks with a broken left hand after the Chicago Cubs star was hit by a pitch from Atlanta's Jeff Bennett on Wednesday night.

The Cubs placed Soriano on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday.

"You know this is a costly win," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said after the Cubs' 7-2 win over the Braves. "Alfonso was playing really well."
