Mets release Reyes, who never threw a pitch for New York
WASHINGTON -- Right-hander Al Reyes was released by the New York Mets on Thursday without having thrown a pitch for their struggling bullpen.
Reyes began the season with the Tampa Bay Rays, but they designated him for assignment in August. He agreed to a minor league contract with the Mets, who sent him to Double-A Binghamton and called him up to the majors when rosters expanded this month.
