Phillies finalize Werth's $10M deal

The World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies avoided arbitration with outfielder Jayson Werth by agreeing to a two-year contract.

Werth will be paid $10 million over the length of the contract -- $3 million in 2009 and $7 million in 2010.

The Phillies also signed reliever Chad Durbin to a one-year, $1.635 million contract one day after the two exchanged arbitration figures.

Durbin had filed a salary request of $1.95 million, with the Phillies offering $1.35 million. ...
