Sources: Holliday, Cards close

The St. Louis Cardinals and free-agent outfielder Matt Holliday continue to make progress and are close to a deal, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
Talks between Holliday, who is considered the prime free-agent hitter remaining on the market, and the Cardinals have centered on a possible seven-year deal.
