Sources: Molina, Giants agree to deal

Catcher Bengie Molina agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract to return to the San Francisco Giants, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Molina, 35, hit .265 with a a career-high 20 home runs to go with 80 RBIs as the Giants' cleanup hitter last season.

It's a surprising move for both sides, because Molina had been negotiating a two-year deal with the New York Mets only days ago. The Mets offered one year with a vesting option, but Molina wanted two years guaranteed. ...
