Francis unable to play catch after start

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Rockies manager Jim Tracy said left-hander Jeff Francis, who was scheduled to start Colorado's second game of the regular-season against Milwaukee, will be placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Francis, who pitched five scoreless innings Thursday against Chicago after missing all of last season following shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, was sore and unable to play flat-ground catch Friday.
