Report: Nats minor leaguer suspended

NEW YORK -- A person familiar with the penalty tells The Associated Press that Washington Nationals minor league catcher Hector Taveras has been suspended 25 games because he was found in possession of an unauthorized syringe.

His suspension was announced Tuesday by Major League Baseball under the minor league drug program, but the reason for the discipline was not. The person who divulged it spoke on the condition of anonymity because that detail wasn't made public.
