AP source: Red Sox agree to deal with C David Ross

BOSTON -- A baseball official familiar with the deal says the Boston Red Sox have agreed with backup catcher David Ross on a two-year, $6.2 million contract.

The deal with Ross, who spent the past four seasons with the Atlanta Braves, is pending a physical, the official said Monday. The official requested anonymity because the contract has not been announced.
