Open Hall's doors for these eight names
It's been nearly 5,000 days since Goose Gossage threw his last pitch in the big leagues. It's been nearly 7,000 days since Jim Rice's last hit.

Goose Gossage (ninth election) and Jim Rice (14th election) could both be elected to the Hall of Fame this year. Only four times in history have at least two different players been elected to the Hall in the same year in their ninth try or later. Here they are:
1953 Dizzy Dean (10th) and Al Simmons (9th) 1954 Bill Dickey (9th), Bill Terry (14th) and Rabbit Maranville (14th) 1955 Ted Lyons (10th), Gabby Hartnett (12th) and Dazzy Vance (15th) 1956 Hank Greenberg (9th) and Joe Cronin (10th) |
