Kluber winless in April

Only three defending Cy Young-winning starting pitchers have gone winless through April. The reigning AL ace Corey Kluber needs a win tonight to avoid becoming the fourth.

Yankees-Mets feud... over Twitter

The official Mets Twitter account tweeted this in the Subway Series finale Sunday: "NY (AL) grabs a run in the 5th. We trail 6-4." The Yankees' Twitter account was not pleased with being referred to as NY (AL) and responded: "Yankees. We are the YANKEES." But the Mets, see below, had the last barb.

On April 27, 1983, Nolan Ryan passed Walter Johnson on the all-time strikeout list with 3,509 strikeouts -- and Ryan was still 10 years from retirement. He would end his career with 5,714 K's, still good for most in MLB history.

No strong DH opinion for Jake Arrieta

Said the Cubs pitcher, who's 0-for-10 on the year: "It's part of the game, and we have to put work into it. I think a lot of people want to see the DH implemented around the league. I wouldn't care one way or another."

Marlins owner endorses manager

After a 3-11 start, Mike Redmond faced rumors of being on the hot seat. However, after a five-game winning streak, owner Jeffrey Loria offered support of his manager: "He's the manager. Period. All teams go through bad moments. Ours came early." (via CBS Sports)

A-Rod needs one more to tie Mays

Next up for the Yankees is the Rays, and Alex Rodriguez doesn't have too many at-bats against their projected starters. But he did homer off tonight's hurler Nathan Karns earlier this season, and he has 49 long balls against the Rays in his career.

BBTN's Power Rankings

BBTN's Karl Ravech's and Aaron Boone's top 5 teams are all the same, they're just in different places on the list. Which two AL teams and three NL teams are sticking out the most so far this season?

Wade Miley: 'I know I'm better than this'

The Red Sox LHP gave up 7 runs (6 earned) in just 2 1/3 innings yesterday in Baltimore, and the BoSox lost 18-7. Said Miley: "I didn't give us a chance at all. And it's so hard for an offense to keep going when a starter goes out in the third inning and gives up seven runs."

Joe Maddon keeping faith in young talent

Addison Russell has 12 strikeouts in 22 at-bats, but the Cubs manager isn't fazed: "I think once Addison really gets his feet on the ground, heads up. ... The young players, they're a little more advanced than most."
