Ten fans charged with stealing souvenirs
PHILADELPHIA -- Police collared a suburban Philadelphia woman who walked out of a restroom with a toilet seat around her neck after the last game at Veterans Stadium.
The woman was one of 10 people charged Sunday with stealing signs, seats and other souvenirs during the final game at the stadium.
Police charged two other fans with disorderly conduct, Officer Sheila Smith said.
Mostly, though, nostalgia ruled the day as an announced crowd of 58,554 watched the Phillies' 5-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves and the stadium's closing ceremony.
More than 70 current and former players marked the occasion, including pitchers Tug McGraw and Steve Carlton, third baseman Mike Schmidt and current manager Larry Bowa -- all teammates on the 1980 World Championship Phillies.
