CHICAGO -- New York Mets third baseman Ty Wigginton has an ulcer and could be released from the hospital Saturday.

Wigginton, who is on the 15-day disabled list, will go to Florida for a rehab stint, Mets manager Art Howe said Friday. Wigginton can't return until May 6.

"We'll give him a chance to get down to Florida to get some at-bats," Howe said before the Mets played the Chicago Cubs. "Get him baseball acclimated."

Wigginton, 26, has been at NYU Medical Center in New York since Wednesday. He fainted at home and then felt dizzy during Wednesday night's game against Montreal. Hospital tests revealed the ulcer.

"You know it's pretty serious for Ty not to be in the lineup," Howe said. "It's rare, especially for somebody that young."

Wigginton is batting .188 with two home runs and nine RBI. The Mets recalled infielder Danny Garcia from Triple-A Norfolk to take his roster spot.
