Kent breaks Astros club record
MILWAUKEE -- Jeff Kent extended his career-best hitting streak to 25 games with a leadoff double in the second inning Friday night, breaking the Houston Astros' record he shared with Tony Eusebio.
Kent lined a 1-2 pitch from Milwaukee's Doug Davis to right field for his 17th double of the season. The 2000 NL MVP surpassed Carlos Lee of the Chicago White Sox for the longest hitting streak in the majors this season.
Eusebio hit in 24 consecutive games in 2000.
