Baltimore Orioles: The Orioles activated third baseman Melvin Mora from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Jose Leon to Triple-A Ottawa.

Mora strained his right hamstring July 2 at Philadelphia. He was hitting .347 in 66 games when he was placed on the DL three days later, retroactive to July 3.

Leon appeared in 16 games with Baltimore, hitting .133 with a homer and three RBIs.

Cincinnati Reds: The Reds designated left-handed pitcher Jesus Sanchez for assignment and said they will recall left-hander Brandon Claussen in time to start Tuesday against Milwaukee.

Claussen hasn't pitched for the Reds since being acquired from the Yankees last season in a trade for Aaron Boone. He's gone 8-6 with a 4.66 ERA for Triple-A Louisville. He is leading the International League with 111 strikeouts and is tied for the lead with 47 walks.

Sanchez was 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA in three starts with the Reds.

The Reds also purchased the contract of outfielder Jason Romano from Louisville. Romano hit .063 in 15 games for the Reds earlier this season before being sent down to Louisville, where he hit .337 in 40 games.
