Armas is 32-41 with a 4.21 ERA in 102 starts spanning six seasons with Montreal, including 2-4 with a 4.88 ERA in 16 starts last year. His 2003 season ended in May with surgery on his pitching shoulder, which delayed his 2004 debut until June 1.

Armas, who made $2.1 million last year, and Nationals right-hander Tomo Ohka filed for arbitration Friday. Unless they reach a deal first, Ohka and the Nationals will exchange figures Tuesday.
