LOS ANGELES -- New York Mets right fielder Mike Cameron underwent successful surgery to repair a broken nose and two fractured cheekbones, injuries he sustained in a collision with center fielder Carlos Beltran.

Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said Saturday that Cameron will remain at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif., for at least a couple more days to recover from Friday night's surgery. His wife, JaBrecka, flew out from the family's home in McDonough, Ga., to join him.

Beltran was not at Dodger Stadium with his teammates Saturday and planned to spend the day at the team's hotel. He isn't expected back in the lineup until next week at the earliest. After colliding with Cameron, Beltran left Thursday's game in San Diego with a concussion and a fracture in his cheekbone that did not require surgery.

Cameron and Beltran were running full speed toward David Ross' looping fly to short right-center, and their heads hit as they left their feet to catch the ball. Cameron also ended up with a concussion in addition to his other injuries.
