SEATTLE --The Kansas City Royals have claimed Mariners pitcher Bobby Madritsch off waivers, the Seattle club announced Friday.

The left-hander pitched four innings in a game in April, left with a sore shoulder and spent the rest of the season on the disabled list.

The 29-year-old Madritsch signed with Seattle as a free agent in 2003 and appeared in 16 games, compiling a 6-3 record.
