Boston Red Sox: Construction scaffolding collapsed behind home plate at Fenway Park during a renovation of the team's home stadium, officials said.

The Red Sox said no one was injured in the collapse but the club was still gathering more information about the cause of the accident.

The structure crumpled near the old .406 club, a glass-enclosed seating area that is now being converted into pricey open-air club seats and a pavilion.

The construction is part of the latest revamp of the 93-year-old stadium in an effort to add an additional 2,500 seats to the park, which seats roughly 36,300 people.

Kansas City Royals: The Royals have claimed Mariners pitcher Bobby Madritsch off waivers, the Seattle club announced Friday.

The left-hander pitched four innings in a game in April, left with a sore shoulder and spent the rest of the season on the disabled list.

The 29-year-old Madritsch signed with Seattle as a free agent in 2003 and appeared in 16 games, compiling a 6-3 record.
