Free agent first baseman J.T. Snow has agreed to terms on a one-year, $2 million contract with the Boston Red Sox. The deal became official later Friday, after Snow passed a physical.

"He's excited,'' said agent Dan Horwits. "J.T. was only going to consider a few places if he wasn't going back to San Francisco, and one of them was Boston right out of the chute. It's a good fit for him.''

Snow, 37, is a career .268 hitter in 14 seasons with the Yankees, Angels and Giants. He is expected to share time at first base with Kevin Youkilis in Boston.

His best offensive season came in 1997, his first year with the Giants, when he hit .281 with 28 home runs and 104 RBI.
